How to care for your Scarban C-Section

How to care for your Scarban C-Section

For optimal results, preferably start Scarban silicone therapy immediately after the wound has healed / closed. Proper use and care of your Scarban C-Section silicone sheet are essential for effective scar management. Here's a straightforward guide to help you:

Start Early & Gradually

When to Begin: Start using the Scarban silicone sheet once your wound has fully closed and any stitches have been removed.

Application Duration: Gradually increase wear time, aiming for a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 20 hours daily for optimal results.

Applying the Silicone Sheet

Preparation: Ensure the scar area and surrounding skin are clean and dry.

Hair Removal: Remove any hair around the scar to improve adhesion.

Tip: If needed, trim the sheet to cover the scar and an additional 2 cm around it.

Application: Remove the protective backing and place the adhesive side directly onto the scar, smoothing out any air bubbles.

Daily Cleaning to Maintain Adhesion

You must clean the silicone sheet daily to maintain its stickiness and hygiene.

Cleaning Process:

  • Gently wash the sheet with a few drops of Scarban Cleaning Soap or a mild, neutral soap and lukewarm water.
  • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residues.

After washing, the adhesive may temporarily weaken, and the sheet might curl up.

Drying: Place the sheet, adhesive side up, on a clean, lint-free surface to air dry. As it dries, the adhesive properties will return.

Maximising the Lifespan of Your Scarban Sheet

When used and maintained correctly, each scarban C-Section silicone sheet may provide 6 to 8 weeks of scar therapy. To extend its life:

  • Trim worn edges if they start peeling.
  • Store properly when not in use to prevent dust and lint from sticking to it.
  • Use multiple sheets for longer treatment durations.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid Oils and Creams: Do not apply oils or creams under the silicone sheet, as they can affect its adhesion and effectiveness.
  • Inspect for Damage: Regularly check the sheet for wear. If the edges become damaged or less sticky, you can trim them to extend the sheet's lifespan.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the silicone sheet in a clean, dry place to maintain its quality.
