Using ScarBan

Using Scarban

Scarban is a medical device. Follow the instructions that come with the product. And always follow the advice of your practitioner.

How to use Scarban C-Section

The important points when using Scarban C-Section:

  • Preferably start using Scarban immediately after wound closure and when any stitches have been removed.
  • Make sure that 2 cm around the scar is covered with the plaster. If necessary, it can be cut to the correct size.
  • For good adhesion and long service life, it is advisable to remove the hair around the location of the scar.
  • Clean and dry the skin thoroughly before applying the silicone patch around the scar.
  • Build up Scarban's gestation period gradually—this way your skin can gradually get used to the silicone.
  • For the best possible results, it is preferable to wear the silicone plasters for at least 12 to a maximum of 23 hours per day.
  • Clean the silicone patch daily with the supplied soap. This way the silicone remains in good condition and you maintain good adhesive power.

Hannah Poulton of HLP Therapy has produced a great video to demonstrate this, it can be found here

Maintenance & cleaning of the sheet

To maintain their adhesive power, Scarban C-Section must be cleaned daily.

Step 1: Neutral soap
Rub the silicone sheet with a few drops of Scarban® Silicone Cleaning Soap or a neutral soap.

Step 2: Rinse
Rinse the silicone sheet well under lukewarm running water to remove all grease and soap residue. After contact with soap and water, the adhesive strength disappears and the sheet rolls up.

Step 3: Drying
Allow the silicone sheet to dry on a dry and clean surface, with the adhesive side facing up. While drying, the sheet unrolls itself and the adhesive strength gradually returns. Only use the silicone patch when it is completely dry.

Tip:
Are the edges of the silicone patch damaged over time? These can be trimmed if the adhesion deteriorates due to wear.

Please be advised that usage of creams and oils can influence the lifespan of Scarban C-Section, please ensure to clean thoroughly.

Alhydran and Scarban C-Section

Alhydran has been used for years to treat the most vulnerable skin, such as scars. Apply the scar cream as soon as your skin is closed, and you will quickly notice the effect:

Complaints such as itching, pain and redness are relieved or disappear completely. Your skin feels more supple.

Your skin also recovers better. Unfortunately, a scar on a deep wound can never be completely prevented. But Alhydran works against scar formation. The scar cream hydrates the skin and contributes to skin recovery. This reduces the chance of a (very) visible scar.

Alhydran contains more than 45% Aloe Vera gel, the highest possible concentration. This high concentration of Aloe Vera is what makes Alhydran so effective.

Alhydran also contains:

Vitamin E & Vitamin C
Antioxidants

Natural oils, like Jojoba oil
Enhances skin’s regenerative properties

How to use Alhydran and Scarban C-Section together

When using Alhydran alongside Scarban C-Section we recommend applying a small amount of the cream to the scarred area after you have washed. Leave the cream to absorb into the skin for up to an hour. If you find after an hour the area where you have applied the cream is still greasy then clean the area to ensure any reminance of the cream is gone and then re-apply your Scarban C-Section.
